What is Henley Royal Regatta?

Henley Royal Regatta is one of the most prestigious rowing events in the world, featuring 200 boat races and attracting crowds well into the thousands.

Dating back to 1839, taking part in the regatta is a notable highlight in any rower’s career, with teams visiting from around the world.

Spread over five days, it is an important social event in the English calendar, with guests donning their finest attire for a day of riverside fun.

How long is the course?

The course is one mile and 550 yards long (2,112 metres), running from Temple Island to Henley Bridge in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.

How are the races structured?

There are currently 20 events across various categories, including the coveted Grand Challenge Cup, with a maximum of 32 crews competing in any one event.

The races work on a knockout basis, with two crews competing in each.
